Do something different. Anything. Just different.

Studies show that novelty – something new and different – brings on a dopamine rush which makes us feel good.

Humans seek novelty every so often to break up the routine of day-to-day life. Studies show that people who actively seek out new experiences throughout life live happier, healthier lives.

Make a list of things you haven’t done yet. Do one of those things. Any one.

Try a new food, new date spot, a new hobby, a new activity. It doesn’t have to cost much.

And if you do that new and novel thing with your spouse, you’ll both benefit from the dopamine rush of novelty and from doing something together. And you’ll bond over something new. –
