How Long Should First Dates Be?

Whatever your preference, explain it upfront to the shadchen who should then share the preferred protocol so there are no misunderstandings or awkward moments.

Set specific end times for your activity ahead of time. That way, both you and your date have similar expectations about how, where, and when the date will end.

2-3 hours is plenty of time for a first date.

15-20 minutes before the pre-set end time, you might give some indication that the date is winding down. Either of you can say it.

“It’s 9:45, I think we should get going about 10.”
