Never say “I told you so”

Your spouse most likely feels silly and wrong. Why would you want to add to that?

What is gained by saying ‘I told you so’; is it your one-upmanship?

Your gut reaction might be to allow them to let them suffer the natural consequences of their action or dis-action. What will that accomplish?

Rather, help out.

Offer comfort. Use humor, or whatever works best for them. “I tried to stop the clock so it could all get done it time. But couldn’t pull that off for you.” Offer help to fix the problem. “OK, what can I do help with the situation?” Validate. “That must feel frustrating.”
