“Be grateful and release” to move on.

Everyone will experience changes in their lives. People move, change jobs, lose friendships. Sometimes, it can feel hard to let go of what was. We might try to get it back or recreate it. But it’s just not the same as it was.

Everything that occurs in our lives happens for us – for a purpose. For us to grow, to learn, to do something, to meet someone.

We really can’t take on more into our lives if we are still holding onto the past. When we accept the reality of the end of a season and let it go, we can be open for what comes next.

Marie Kondo (the minimalist expert) says: “Have gratitude for the things you’re discarding. By giving gratitude, you’re giving closure to the relationship with that object, and by doing so, it becomes a lot easier to let go.” It is similar for experiences and even relationships. Admittedly, in some situations, this can be hard, very hard.

📌Be grateful for the experience and for what you got through it (friendships, lessons, strength). “I am grateful/ I feel blessed that I gained experience and met so many wonderful people.” “It was a hard and painful experience, but I am grateful for the lessons I learned.”

📌Release it, let it go. Name what you are letting go of. “I am letting go of the job/ neighborhood, so I can embrace what comes next.”

Make space for the new. It will be more aligned with what is really best for you.
