Have a life of your own.

Have a life of your own. Have hobbies or interests. Have something in your life – outside of your spouse and children (and job) that feels gratifying and fulfilling. That you don’t necessarily do with your spouse.

It doesn’t have to take lots of time. It can be interesting music or inspirational talks you listen to at home. Or painting or books you read.

Firstly, you’ll have your own identity outside your role of spouse, parent and work-person.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, from time to time, share some of that part of your life with your spouse. Just as you shared about your life when you were dating and learning about each other. AND be open and curious to hearing about those aspects of your spouse’s life that you aren’t necessarily part of.
