If you can’t define what’s overwhelming you, you can’t do much about it.

Too many commitments and can’t seem to ever get out from under that all? You will have to put in some time and thought so you can find out what you can cut out so that you can get your life in balance.

What are you so busy with? Write down everything on your to-do list – and even those that didn’t make it onto your official to-do list. Every phone call, every meeting, every errand, every project, every conversation, everything.
You have to get it out of your head onto your paper/ computer so you can see the list with your eyes. And realize that you are the one who took on those commitments. You will see – right in front of you – all those things to which you said ‘yes’. This might inspire you to say ‘no’ more often.
Some items on that list are part and parcel with living your life. Some are choices, even if at first glance they don’t seem like it (think about it). Maybe some things can be eliminated altogether? Maybe there is a different way that you can get the result? Maybe you can delegate? Maybe you can decline a request? –
This exercise can also help you be aware of the load that is realistic and reasonable for you – how much you can actually take on without feeling constantly overwhelmed. You’ll also get better at noticing when you’re getting close to that threshold.
