If you stop focusing on your marriage, it just won’t thrive. You can’t ‘frontload’ a marriage; you must constantly maintain it. You can’t put in tons in the beginning and hope it lasts a lifetime.

You constantly have to focus on and feed your marriage. Constantly. With the little things that matter to your spouse.

And check in often. “How are we doing?” “How am I doing?” “Is there anything I used to do that I am doing less of and you’d like me to do more of?” “Is there something I should stop doing?” “Start doing?” “Try something new?”
Yes, it is totally normal to ask such questions. It is very good practice to check in with each other.
