Keep up the little things in your marriage.

If you stop focusing on your marriage, it just won’t thrive. You can’t ‘frontload’ a marriage; you must constantly maintain it. You can’t put in tons in the beginning and hope it lasts a lifetime.

You can’t live along the motto of “I told you ‘I love you’ and I’ll let you know if anything changes”.

You constantly have to focus on and feed your marriage. Constantly. With the little things that matter to your spouse.

And check in often. “How are we doing?” “How am I doing?” “Is there anything I used to do that I am doing less of and you’d like me to do more of?” “Is there something I should stop doing?” “Start doing?” “Try something new?”

Yes, it is totally normal to ask such questions. It is very good practice to check in with each other.
