New? Uncomfortable? Lean into the discomfort.

Some of our biggest growth and learnings come after discomfort. At one point, you had a different way of looking at things or you didn’t know how to do something. And then a new way of understanding or doing things presented itself.

If you didn’t invite that change, you may be uncomfortable with it. Nonetheless, it is an opportunity to expand your understanding or your skill set. You may need to lean into the discomfort, beyond your comfort zone, to this new way.

Actually say those words to yourself: “I’m going to lean into the discomfort”. Saying the words aloud to others lets them know that you are willing to be vulnerable and stretching yourself. And as applicable, it is also an invitation for them to stretch too.

Generally, as you lean in, others become more willing to lean in.
