(Think about a ‘grace period’ for late payments). Showing grace is going out of your way to give your compassion, kindness and love to someone even if they might not appreciate it, or return the favor. Even if they haven’t ‘earned it’ or deserve it. It is accepting and allowing someone to be who they are – with all their human aspects.
This is crucial for any relationship (and also for strangers).
- It’s about letting mistakes slide and not mentioning them.
- It’s about not responding to every mis-stated or unkind word that is said to you.
- It’s about forgiving.
- It’s correcting with kindness (and only done, if absolutely necessary).
- It’s apologizing for your part in a situation.
- It’s not wishing that ‘they ought to get what they deserve’ after an altercation.
(Don’t you want others to show grace to you? You aren’t perfect either.)
