Stressed? Anxious? Take deep breaths

A stressful situation can trigger a ‘fight or flight’ response in yourself. This is a sequence of hormonal changes and physiological responses designed to help us humans deal with matters of immediate survival. It causes us to want to either run away from the situation or fight it.

This ‘fight or flight’ is a human reaction to almost any type of stress. But sometimes, neither flight nor fight is the best response to the particular situation. Most of the time, we are not in immediate danger.
Help your brain know that you are not in immediate danger. You can do this by taking deep breaths, prayer, thinking of a more peaceful situation or a physical activity such as walking around the block.

Once you are in a more calm state, you can evaluate the situation and respond with more reason than jumping to an emotional response.
