“Tact is the art of making a point without making an enemy.” – Isaac Newton
Tact is the ability to deliver a difficult message in a way that considers other people’s feelings and their reactions. This takes sensitivity, understanding and flexibility.
Acting with tact means that you notice the circumstance and adjust the message accordingly. Sometimes you just don’t say anything. It’s about the timing and environment, your choice of words, your non verbals (such as body language and voice pitch) and keeping your emotions in check.
