While texting is a convenient way of communicating, it is generally not the best to communicate. And certainly not for two people who are dating.
Communication via texting doesn’t allow for facial expressions or even voice inflections, so there is much less personal connection.
Texting brings all sorts of misunderstandings. And when two people are dating and don’t yet know each other’s texting styles and patterns, there can be misinterpretations and even sensitivities. “Why didn’t he text back yet?” “What did she mean by those words?”

Texting means different things to people.
Some believe that when dating all conversations should be in person or at the very least on the phone. They feel texting is too impersonal and inappropriate. Others don’t feel that quite as much.
You might discuss it on your date or let your shadchen know your preference and they can pass it along to the other person.
Some people are hesitant to share their phone number with someone they don’t know well. Respect that.

Of course, you might text about logistics or technical details, but keep all conversations for when you are together. Or at the very least for a phone call.
- “Here’s a link to the webpage I mentioned last night.”
- “I’ll be outside in 5 minutes.”
—
If you do end the relationship, delete the other person’s number. Definitely, do not call or text them again.
