Being OK with uncertainty

There are so many unknowns now; the situation is fluid and changing soo rapidly, it is hard to plan for even the nearest future.

There is a wide range of ways that people respond to uncertainty. For many the uncertainty is quite uncomfortable and others are having a good time making jokes. There is no right way to be. (Of course, those who take it more lightly are having an easier time with it all.)

When you can tolerate the ambiguity of not knowing and learn to co-exist with the uncertainty of groundlessness, you’re more able to be more flexible and shift gears more quickly. You will have the head space to take in new information that you might otherwise reject, be creative and innovative to experiment with new options.

Allow yourself your feelings. If your hopes and plans are crashing, it’s important to take some time to accept, be present with, and work through your emotions. If possible, before making new plans. But some instances, it may have to be simultaneously.

Take time to clarify priorities and values. The experience of groundlessness is an opportunity to reflect on what is most important to you in the greater scope of your whole life.

Laugh at the absurdity of it all. Watch those memes and videos. Laugh. And laugh again.

Create new memories. Way more unusual than you had originally anticipated.

Laugh.
