Embrace the detours

Cruising along, hitting on all cylinders – and then – bang! “Detour. Road closed ahead.”

This makes the trip different than expected, maybe even a bit longer.

At the same time, it is also an opportunity to go through an area you may not have otherwise. You might see some new country scenery. You might notice a store you want visit later. Or you might have a few extra minutes to enjoy the music (or quiet) in the car.

It’s not like you had a choice; the road was closed and you had to detour. No use complaining. You may as well maximize from it.

“A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.” ~ Anonymous
