Letting go isn’t so much about courage to release the past. It is about having the wisdom and strength to embrace the present.
There is a subtle but huge difference between giving up and letting go. It’s all in the mindset, the feelings about it and the intention.
Letting go is a release of whatever it was that you were holding onto that isn’t serving you (anymore). A situation, life phase, friendship, job. It could be a goal, expectation or a dream – of what you wanted it to be or thought it would look like.
It is acknowledging an end of something that isn’t working (anymore).
It may also be letting go of something that you have no control over, like the past.
Letting go is just releasing it.
On the other hand, giving up feels much more negative and feels like failure and sadness. And it keeps you in the past with wondering about all those ‘what-if’s and the ‘‘if-only’s.
Is there something that you are holding onto that isn’t serving you? Giving up or letting go is a matter of choice.
