Don’t let your mind ruminate on thoughts like, “What if I was there when it happened?” or “What if the danger comes closer to my home?” Instead, shift your focus to the present with statements like, “Right now, we are safe.”

Of course, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t plan or prepare for the future. It means avoiding excessive rumination on ‘what ifs’ and instead choosing to ground yourself in the current moment. It’s a reminder that finding solace and strength often begins with acknowledging the safety and stability you have in the here and now.
